Summary


Band 8a Advanced Care Practitioner in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (Full-time, permanent)



Do you want to work in a challenging but rewarding environment and are you able to prioritise and manage your own workload whilst also working as part of a team? We are seeking a dynamic, pro-active, highly motivated, and experienced cardio-thoracic surgical nurse with excellent clinical skills and knowledge to join our team. You will need to demonstrate excellent clinical and communication skills and be able to work autonomously as well as working effectively within the multi-disciplinary team. You will be able to demonstrate a true passion for this speciality and strive to deliver excellent care to patients throughout their journey, working closely with other members of the cardio-thoracic multi-disciplinary team. You will also have a desire to develop and improve service delivery, an enthusiasm to maintain and improve your own knowledge and skills and a willingness to educate and develop other health care professionals caring for cardio-thoracic surgical patients.

• Role model standards of care and behaviour through clinical practice.
• Be highly visible in the clinical areas.

Job Purpose

The post holder will exercise advanced clinical expertise and advanced levels of judgement, discretion and decision-making in clinical care demonstrated through the Trust advanced competency framework. They will provide advanced clinical skills and advice demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with cardiac- and thoracic- related conditions. They will monitor and lead improvements to standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, evidence-based practice, teaching and supporting professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership. They will lead the implementation of relevant research into practice contributing to the further development of the evidence base through research and audit. They will contribute to clinical governance within the service by leading audit and research as part of the MDT within the area of cardio-thoracic surgery.
