Sue Ryder is one of the largest charity retailers in the UK with over 400 shops. Every item sold in our shops generates funding so we can continue to provide 2.7 million hours of expert medical, practical, bereavement and emotional support every year, in our hospices, in people's homes and in the community. We are here to make sure that everyone approaching the end of life or living with grief can access the support they need.
We have a much-loved presence on high streets across the country - with a range of and innovative shops, including boutiques, vintage and retro shops, and large format stores. As a member of the retail team you’ll be helping us Inspire communities to provide more care for more people through innovating and collaborating on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. You will also be contributing to drive up the income that generates the vital funds necessary to keep our care and support services running.
We understand our people are our most important asset and work hard to make sure you feel valued and included as part of a team. In retail most work every weekend, our managers mainly work only 1 in 2. We don't expect our teams to work past 5.15 in most of our shops. We don’t start till 8.45 am. We have every Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day off.
Our Kingsway shop is located within a small retail park, which includes various shops and benefits from a large free car park. Inside we sell a large selection of clothing for men and women, electrical items, bric-a-brac, DVDs and CDs, and also children's toys and clothes. We are a happy friendly shop, always on hand to help and to offer our advice to our customers making their shopping experience at Sue Ryder an enjoyable one.
About you

We rely on generous gifts of clothing, bric-a-brac and furniture to raise money for our health & social care work. If you’re confident, a team player and organised, join our team and help us by sorting the stock that comes through our stores. A passion for fashion with a knowledge of fashion labels and the ability to spot a bargain would be an advantage.
The key responsibilities include:
• Running the shop in the absence of the manager
• Process all stock donations to a high standard ensuring compliance with Sue Ryder Policies and Procedures regarding items prohibited from sale.
• Identifying items of high value e.g. designer, vintage, collectables
• Awareness of current fashion trends and brand labels
• Identify seasonal stock and process or store as necessary.
• Identify items for recycling, upcycling and pound shops.
