Summary

Job Overview
-We are currently recruiting for a Principal Commercial Manager, reporting to the Head of Commercial for the Future Defence Infrastructure Services Contract with the Ministry of Defence. The FDIS contract is in year 3 of a 7 year contract to deliver Hard FM services and a large (£70-£80M) Billable works programme across all defence sites in Scotland and Northern Ireland. The role will be accountable for all contractual and commercial issues involved in managing the delivery of the Billable Works programme on behalf of the client.

The successful candidate will need to complete SC security clearance as part of the role.

-The role is based in our FDIS offices in Rosyth and will require extensive travel throughout Scotland and Northern Ireland, as well as other parts of the UK ocassionally as required.



Main Duties

-Control and Communicate expenditure and maximise income to achieve or exceed budgeted financial performance

-Ensure the effective management of projects commercial processes and work closely with the project teams to drive value and recovery of working capital

-Ensure adherance to contract obligations

-mitigate KPI consequences on Billables works delivery

-Ensure robust risk management of the billable works programme, maximising revenue opportunities whilst mitigating financial risk.

-Lead the Billable works team (7 QS) be an excellent role model, and ensure effective professional development of the team

-Manage the Billable Works supply chain effectively. Ensure robust contracts are placed and supplier performance monitored and poor performance managed.

-Develop the supply chain, identify new opportunities and innovation to improve our offering to the client.

-Work with our client in a senior management role, support their initiatives to develop an excellent client relationship and increase opportunities to increase turnover.

What we are looking for
-Relevant Experience of working within a large complex public sector FM contract. Preferably within the Defence Sector.

-Experience providing commercial/Quantity Surveying Support to construction and engineering projects.

-Degree educated in a commercial / business / surveying discipline and or relevant professional qualification (i.e RICS)

-Knowledge of several different contract models, Target Costs, Fixed Price, Cost Reembursable etc

-High level of commercial awareness

-working knowledge of standard form contracts

-experience of managing contract variations

-Experience of managing complex stakeholders and maintaining positive relationships

-Able to communicate effectively at a senior level.

-Leadership experience at a senior level.

-5 years experience in a senior commercial position.

-Demonstrated ability to lead a team, set goals and deliver own agenda

-excellent presentation skills, both oral and written

-Strong commercial and finance background

-Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
