Summary


The Education Academy within Barts Health is expanding in response to the need with increasing numbers of students and trainees and commitment to offer the best educational experience for our trainees. There is a real need to ensure that students receive excellent tuition and that trainees have the best possible educational supervision. In line with our Education Strategy, we intend to improve education by building an Education Fellow faculty base made up of Specialty Teaching Fellows who contribute to both undergraduate and postgraduate training and support Inter-professional Innovations.

Barts Health Simulation Service has four dedicated Simulation and Essential Clinical Skills Centres based at Newham University Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital, St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London. Each of these centres has a proud history of being innovative and award winning. These departments are teaching areas with fully equipped simulation and clinical skills teaching and Haptic Clinical Skills facilities.

The post holder will have the opportunity to work across sites with other education fellows.

To assist Barts Health Education Team and Clinicians in their educational strategy to design, develop, deliver & evaluate clinical education programmes which encompass essential clinical skills, high fidelity simulation, human factors, communications skills & patient safety training.

Provision of clinical education for undergraduate and postgraduate clinical trainees in OMFS, including simulation and clinical skills for post graduate trainees in OMFS.

Support the trusts long term strategy to embed a culture of Patient Safety & Human factors awareness through all educational programmes.

To assist in providing high quality educational experiences for Barts Health and users of the Education Academy facilities.

To develop and deliver and provide support and supervision to trainees with a focus on OMFS as part of a multidisciplinary approach where relevant.
To take part in on-going research projects, or undertake original work under supervision with the aim of producing peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international meetings.

The post holder might be required to work across the Trust at any time throughout the duration of his/her contract, which may entail travel and working at different hospital.

The post would be divided 50/50 into direct clinical care and educational activity.
