An exciting, unique opportunity has arisen for an endometriosis clinical nurse specialist (CNS) post, 15 hours per week, to join the endometriosis team at University Hospitals Southampton NHS Trust. The successful candidate will work very closely with the consultant and multi-disciplinary team at the Princess Anne Hospital to further develop the role and service and would be supported by the senior nursing team.
The role of the clinical nurse specialist is a privileged position and a hugely important part of the patient care journey. Patients with endometriosis are often complex, requiring long term support with managing their symptoms and overall support of their holistic needs. The post holder will work in collaboration with professionals to give appropriate specialist advice, support, and education in relation to all aspects of endometriosis and related issues.

The service works closely with the following services and with the multi-professional team members:
*Princess Anne Outpatient Services – a variety of busy outpatient clinic settings serving a wide range of services including Breast, Gynaecology and Maternity.
*Bramshaw Women’s Unit, Day Surgery Unit, Theatres and Recovery
*Women's ultrasound services

What we’re looking for
• We are looking for a highly experienced person with experience working in a fast-paced acute healthcare setting. You need to have experience in Womens Health, possess a good understanding of the physiopathology of the endometriosis and the impact on the individual, socially, mentally and physically, be able to demonstrate good leadership skills, be familiar with HR processes with evidence of change management, leadership, and innovation. We are seeking someone who is caring, motivated and enthusiastic, having demonstrable skills in MDT working, teaching and education, plus involvement in research and audit. Non-medical prescriber competence is advantageous.

What you’ll do
• The CNS will develop support hubs and mechanisms to patients, staff, and primary care
• Provide education and improve access to patients
• The CNS will ensure patients and their families receive sound clinical research-based care and have access to the necessary services to manage their condition effectively.
• To work with the consultant lead and CNS team in endometriosis to further develop the service
• To work collaboratively and confidently with external agencies and organisations
• To collaborate with neighbouring endometriosis services to peer review and benchmark service provision and ensure compliance with national standards and best practice.
• The post holder will be an autonomous nurse practitioner supported by the lead consultant for endometriosis and can manage complex clinical situations, providing guidance, supervision and training to peers and junior members of staff.
• The post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate the management plans for patients on their case load, arranging ongoing follow up care when necessary, alongside supporting new patients to the service, triaging the new referrals and developing the nurse led clinic to bolster the service and ensure our endometriosis service consistently delivers excellent care and is fit for the future
