Summary

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Tree Surgeon to join our small arboriculture team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the care, maintenance, and removal of trees, ensuring their health and safety in various environments. This role requires a strong understanding of tree biology, excellent climbing skills, and the ability to operate specialised equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Tree Pruning and Trimming: Conduct proper pruning techniques to enhance tree health, appearance, and safety. Trim branches that pose a risk to structures or public safety.

• Tree Removal: Safely remove trees that are dead, diseased, or pose a risk, using rigging and felling techniques.

• Planting and Transplanting: Assist in planting new trees and transplanting existing ones, ensuring proper planting techniques and aftercare.

• Tree Health Assessment: Diagnose tree diseases, pests, and other health issues, providing appropriate treatments and recommendations.

• Climbing and Rigging: Utilize climbing equipment and techniques to access and work on trees at various heights safely.

• Emergency Tree Care: Respond to emergency tree care situations, such as storm damage, to remove hazards promptly.

• Equipment Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, and repair tools and machinery used in tree care operations.

• Health and Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe working environment.

• Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients to provide estimates, explain services, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

• Education: Industry experience
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in tree surgery or arboriculture.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications Lantra/ NTPC/CSCS card
• Skills: Proficient in tree climbing, pruning, and felling techniques.
• Physical Fitness: Excellent physical condition with the ability to perform strenuous activities and work at heights.
• Communication: Strong verbal communication
• Driver’s License: Valid driver's license

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Advanced rigging and climbing techniques.
• Knowledge of local tree species and ecosystems.
• Experience with pest and disease management.
• Good team player
• Excellent time keeper

Working Conditions:

• Work primarily outdoors, often in various weather conditions.
• Exposure to hazardous equipment and heights.
• Regular lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
• Availability for emergency call-outs and weekend work as needed.
