Summary


The role of the Clinical Research Fellow is to work as part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses and support staff, assisting and delivering a programme of research relating to commercial, NIHR portfolio and non NIHR studies.
• To support clinical and laboratory studies in children, adolescents (and young adults) under the supervision of Professor Croft, (mainly in gastroenterology). Other studies cover a wide range of specialities including diabetes and endocrinology, respiratory, allergy, haematology, critical care and neonatology. An interest in one or more of all of these specialities would be favoured.
• To support the nurses of the children’s clinical research facility in recruiting patients to other NIHR portfolio studies as agreed by Professor Croft.
• Participation in occasional paediatric clinics of interest (and on call) may be arranged by negotiation after appointment.

To support recruitment into portfolio of research projects, and to support the smooth running of all research studies. This will include patient visits, data entry work, administrative work and liaising with sponsors and multidisciplinary teams.
• To undertake new research projects under the supervision of the principal investigator and Director of Research.
• To support all research work within the Paediatrics team and advocate for the inclusion of research activities within the paediatric department
• The successful applicant will be encouraged to apply for research grants for small research projects that may be feasible within the timeframe of the post.
• To ensure that all research is undertaken according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), as well as SOPs and trial specific protocols
