Summary


East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust Occupational Health Service is looking to recruit a Senior Specialist Practitioner to be responsible for undertaking the role of Senior Specialist Practitioner in Occupational Health to manage the allocation of work for the Specialist Practitioners and Clinic Nurses. Demonstrating leadership to the Occupational Health team and across the range of client contracts.

You should be proficient in providing information and advice on occupational health issues, underpinned by good communication skills, to employees and employers, utilising the multidisciplinary OH team, external organisations, GPs, and other health professionals on:
• Sickness absence, ill health referrals
• Infection control
• Management of blood and body fluid incidences
• Ability to interpret Health and Safety legislation and advise on appropriate health surveillance, and best practice for employers and employees.

To adhere to the standards of proficiency for specialist community and public health nurses.

There is the need to work flexibly and provide cover for colleagues across the occupational health service which has is based at Ipswich and Colchester Hospitals.

There is a need to travel to alternative sites for one to ones and clinical supervision, and consideration to the service delivery of a number of clinics which are scheduled off site.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership
• Provide autonomous leadership within specific areas of work in conjunction with, Head of Service and OH consultant
• Participate and supervise the training development of students, clinic nurses, technicians and others within the department.
• Maintain a high professional standard while representing ESNEFT Occupational Health to clients and adhere to the NMC Standards for Conduct Performance and Ethics.

Service Delivery and Improvement
• Delivering training & educational programme to both, ESNEFT Occupational clients and members of the occupational health team.
• Undertake new starter screening/assessments/management referrals/self-referrals/duty nurse and other routine clinics.
• Organise own workload and provide support to physicians and senior nurses
• Actively participate in the development of ESNEFT Occupational Health policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols.
• Participate on the implementation and development of new and existing Occupational Health services with the Occupational Health team
• Keep up-to-date with current best practice in Occupational Health by personal study/training and resources within the department. Ensuring information is disseminated throughout the team.
• Work in conjunction with the multidisciplinary occupational health team to achieve smooth running of department
