The role
As a CNC Machinist, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary where you will produce machined parts by setting up and operating either a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machine or manual/conventional machine towards close and exacting tolerances and finishing specifications.

Day to day, you'll translate the requirements of detailed part drawings into measurements for production, as well as:

  • Perform set-up and calibration procedures for all equipment and accessories to be used on projects.
  • Work to fine tolerances (imperial and metric measurements) and use appropriate measuring equipment (verniers, micrometres).
  • Ensure that all machining procedures are completed in accordance with project spec. Follow all company safety protocols IE POWSA.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based at on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.

Essential experience of the CNC Machinist

  • Experience of working within an engineering environment.
  • CNC programming / manual turning and milling experience.
  • Enthusiastic, positive attitude, good time keeping and attendance, self-motivated, ability to work safely.
  • Committed to quality & communication

Qualifications for the CNC Machinist

  • Time served experience in machining.
  • City and Guilds in Engineering / HNC in engineering / or equivalent

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
