Summary

Part Time Variable Hours Learning Support Practitioner
Hours: Applicants must be able to work a minimum of three full days per week, and ideally on either Mondays or Fridays, during college term time
Salary: £13.92 per hour inclusive of holiday pay*. Plus generous benefits including an Occupational Pension Scheme
*the base hourly rate is £11.90 per hour, plus holiday pay, which gives an approximate hourly rate of £13.92 per hour
About the roleLearning Support Practitioners provide educational support and care to students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities across College.
You will provide support, either one-to-one or for small groups of students, in class and across unstructured time to:• enable full understanding of the curriculum and overcome barriers to learning• assist teaching staff by supporting students and guiding their learning• help with mobility and personal care needs in College and on off-site visits
In addition to in-class support there may be opportunities or requirements to provide out of class support to students over lunch and break times and a requirement to proactively liaise with tutors.
About the PersonApplicants should be educated to Level 3 or above and should have skills in a number of the following areas:
• support for people on the autistic spectrum• support for students with emotional and/or behavioural issues• support for people with severe learning difficulties/disabilities• support for people with medical conditions • knowledge and understanding of ICT and assistive technology• support for students with visual impairment• support for students with hearing impairment• mobility and personal care
Flexibility, energy and enthusiasm are also important in this role. Candidates must be available to work during college term time, from September 2024.
