Summary

Part Time Variable Hours Tutor of Biology Hours: part-time variable
Hourly rate: £24.51 (unqualified)* or £25.61 (qualified)* inclusive of holiday pay.Plus, membership of Teachers’ Pension Scheme*the base hourly rate is £15.81 (unqualified) / £16.52 (qualified) per hour, plus payment for holiday and preparation and marking time, which gives an approximate hourly rate of £24.51 (unqualified) / £25.61 (qualified) per hour.
About the role We require an outstanding teacher of biology to join our experienced science and biology team, to teach biology on our science courses from September 2024. You will join a team of experienced biologists who work in close collaboration with the wider science team. Lessons are delivered in modern and well-resourced biology laboratories, supported by specialist biology technicians.
We can offer you the support to develop your career and the opportunity to teach on a wide range of popular and successful biology courses. The majority of our courses are for students aged 16 -19 years old, with additional programmes for adults and apprentices. You will find our students enthusiastic and well behaved, keen to learn and progress in their studies. Course programmes include A level and Level 3 BTEC National diploma, Access to higher education, HND and apprenticeships.

About the person You will be an enthusiastic and student-centred teacher with a passion for biology.
This post is suitable for experienced teachers or those starting their career. Applicants must have a biology or related degree qualification together with an appropriate teaching qualification.
We would consider an applicant without a teaching qualification if they have suitable alternative experience either in industry or in higher education. For the right applicant we would be able to support you to gain a teaching qualification whilst gaining experience in the classroom.
