We provide an inclusive, creative research and training environment committed to open science and research integrity. We attract, retain, and develop a talented and diverse research workforce. Our teams are supported by a strong research and implementation infrastructure, integrated clinical partnerships, patient and public involvement, and (inter)national collaborations, in order to accelerate early adoption of best evidence into policy and practice, and of methodological innovation into research application.

Keele University School of Medicine incorporates research in mental and public health which is one of Keele University's strategic research areas. Our academics are multicultural and multinational, bringing an international aspect to the school’s teaching and research activities. We are nationally and internationally recognised for interdisciplinary health research in our key areas of strength (including musculoskeletal health, mental health and well-being, clinical education, cardiovascular disease, prognosis and big data research).

We seek to appoint an enthusiastic researcher, with experience in conducting high quality, mental health, or health services research to join our friendly team. The successful candidate will lead the TRANSLATE (Translating evidence for Early Intervention in Psychosis in Low and Lower-Middle Countries LMICs: Implementation and Evaluation) programme of research funded as part of the NIHR Global Research Professorship award to Prof. Saeed Farooq. This is an exciting research opportunity for developing and evaluating a new model of care for early psychosis in resource constrained setting. In addition, the successful candidate will have excellent opportunities to work on NIHR and MRC funded research projects on Prof. Saeed Farooq’s portfolio of studies.

You will hold a PhD or equivalent clinical experience with demonstrable postdoctoral research experience and a strong track record of publications in high quality journals as a lead author. The experience of working in in early intervention in psychosis services will be desirable. You will also have project development and management skills, excellent written and spoken English and an ability to work both independently and in close collaboration with team members.

This will be an excellent opportunity for a mental health or public heath researcher to develop the academic expertise and lead research in an applied health research. Further details of the few recent research projects can be found here:
