Summary

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to join one of the country’s leading Trading Standards Authorities?

We are looking for officers of the future – could that be you?

Our work protects consumers from rogues and unsafe products, and supports businesses to get it right first time. This can include –
• Advising businesses how to comply with the law
• Investigating complaints
• Sampling consumer goods
• Visiting business premises such as shops, restaurants, warehouses and farms
• Disrupting rogue traders
• Compiling reports for criminal prosecution

The work can be challenging at times but is both varied and rewarding.

We’re looking for someone with enthusiasm and a commitment to learn. You will need great communication and organisational skills and to be a team player, but also able to work independently.

In return we offer a friendly, supportive environment, working with experienced officers to help you achieve a professional qualification. The positions include funding and support to achieve the Level 6 Trading Standards Professional apprenticeship, including six hours a week training or studying.

Hertfordshire is home to over 1 million people and 70,000 businesses, including many of the country’s largest companies. It is a prosperous county with an excellent quality of life, having a variety of urban and rural communities from picturesque villages and market towns to large residential areas such as Watford, St Albans and Stevenage. It really does have something for everyone but also has excellent transport links if you want to travel further afield.

Flexible working and a good work-life balance are not recent innovations for us; it is how we have operated for years. We have good IT provision to support this and offer comprehensive training to keep you operating at the top of your game.

Applicants looking for flexible roles are welcome to apply.
