Learning Support Assistant

Location: Leeds - LS8

Start Date: Immediate

Hours: Mon-Fri 8.30am-3.30pm, Term Time Only

Are you a highly reliable and caring individual looking to become a Learning Support Assistant? A highly regarded SEN school in Leeds is seeking to add a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to their team to support pupils with special educational needs.

This full-time role, term time only, offers an ongoing contract with the potential for a permanent position for the right candidate. The school provides personalised education for children with a range of learning difficulties, including Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, Dyslexia, motor coordination difficulties, and moderate to severe learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work on a 1:1 and small group basis with pupils aged 2-16
- Support and guide pupils to encourage engagement in learning and personal development
- Provide nurturing support during break and lunch times
- Foster independence and reward progression milestones
- De-escalate challenging situations and maintain a calm environment
- Ensure consistency in daily routines for pupils

Skills and Attributes:
- Ability to relate well to pupils and young adults with additional needs
- Experience working with SEN is advantageous, but a positive character fit is most important
- Resilient, calm under pressure, and highly motivated
- Vigilant in identifying safeguarding concerns and following protocols

You must be willing to apply for a DBS and undergo a full reference check.
