We are currently seeking an experienced Teaching Assistant to join a popular secondary school in Haringey. In this full-time, long-term role starting in September, you will work with the Speech and Language team in their resource base.
About the School:
This highly respected and oversubscribed community school has a rich history and is dedicated to the academic, spiritual, and personal development of each student. The school features a Speech and Language Resource Base (SLRB) established in September 2022. This resource base supports students with an EHCP and a diagnosis of developmental language disorders. Most students in the resource base attend mainstream classes with support from the SLRB teacher, Speech and Language Therapists, and Learning Support Assistants. Additionally, these students have small group lessons to develop their expressive and receptive language skills, numeracy skills, and life skills.
As a SEN TA, Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Working one-on-one or in small groups with students to develop speech and language skills.
- Implementing individualised education plans in collaboration with speech therapists and teachers.
- Assisting in creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Providing guidance and support during classroom activities and assessments.
- Monitoring student progress and communicating effectively with parents, teachers, and other professionals.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need:
- Previous experience working within SEN.
- Knowledge of speech and language difficulties.
- Speech and language training such as ELKLAN is beneficial.
- An Enhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable), and professional reference checks.
- A CV that covers the last 10 years of employment history, where possible.
- Legal right to work in the UK.
