Summary

An exciting opportunity for an experienced business intelligence professional to hold a crucial role in the Trust.

The Trust has made a significant investment in BI because it recognises the impact that the intelligent use of data makes to the delivery of high quality and efficient health services. Having developed most of the infrastructure, our focus is now two-fold. Not only to utilise specialised skills and knowledge to maximise the benefits of our on-prem service to clinicians and patients, but also to move forward and embrace cloud technologies and solutions to further enhance our utilisation and delivery of the Trust's information services. This is a challenging but exciting time to help shape the infrastructure, platform, and applications that enhances our service to provide a progressive, comprehensive, insightful, and accessible use of the vast amount of information we collect. This will support the Trust, its services, our managers and staff, empowering them to make intelligence led decisions that will ultimately improve our patients lives.

This role will report to the Trust’s Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse Manager and is part of the Health Informatics Service. The department provides a great opportunity to learn and use the latest information technologies in a supportive and learning environment. The team utilises the current technology of SQL Server, Power BI, SharePoint, and will be shortly expand into MS Azure technologies including PaaS and SaaS.

You will have a hands-on technical role in the team. You will design and implement new solutions and architecture. You will work closely with wider teams in the Trust or external resources when required to overcome technical issues and/or improve current environments and solutions. You will also have a leadership and training aspect to your role. The BI function is part of the Trust’s Applied Information service, supporting them in their responsibility for the maintenance and ongoing development of the data warehouses, and coordinating the delivery of reporting solutions that meet the Trust’s changing needs and providing intelligence on business problems.

You will have applied knowledge of core DBA functions (configuration, security, monitoring & tuning, backup & recovery) to ensure optimal performance of team deliverables to our customers and stakeholders.

You will also keep abreast with the latest thinking in BI technologies and consider how our information infrastructure and insight delivery tools may continue to evolve.

To be successful in this role you’ll need more than just strong technical skills (although in-depth knowledge of the full Microsoft BI stack, Microsoft Azure services and experience of developing and managing BI solutions is essential). Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to understand business requirements and translate these into meaningful reporting solutions, working with multiple stakeholders across the Trust, will also be vital.
