Summary


We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled clinician for a 9-12 month secondment to cover maternity leave, within liaison psychiatry at GSTT.

The Clinical Service Lead provides operational leadership and manages Liaison Psychiatry services working with people who present within the Emergency Department and acute hospital services, who require an emergency psychiatric assessment or who require support during an admission to the acute hospital.

The role involves the management of Liaison Services across GSTT including Old Age Liaison, Working Age Psychiatric Liaison, the Crisis Assessment Unit and the Liaison service at Guys Hospital.

The post holder will provide line management and clinical & operational leadership to the liaison services, working closely with the Consultant and Team Leaders to maximise effectiveness and efficiency of service provision. The aim is to ensure integrated clinical, operational, quality and financial outcomes are achieved within the service line.



Duties include:
• To performance manage the quality of the clinical services, including patient safety, patient satisfaction, clinical outcomes and compliance with the clinical pathways and associated protocols
• To investigate and monitor SUIs, complaints, disciplinary issues, and ensure adverse outcomes are reported and action taken. Produce high quality, timely reports and action plans to ensure recommendations are implemented and lessons are learnt.
• Responsible for ensuring high levels of operational effectiveness, including throughput, resource utilisation and the attainment of performance targets within service lines.
• To ensure the delivery of service within the resources available whilst maintaining the quality of service provision.
• To line manage and performance manage team leaders/managers in accordance with Trust standards and protocols
• To assist in recruiting, motivating, training, developing and retaining appropriate staff enabling them to have the skills, expertise and discretion to function effectively in their roles.
• To demonstrate clinical competence and role model effective clinical care delivery.
• To recruit/develop team leaders/managers who meet the organisational standards and measure performance against leadership and management competencies adopted by the Trust.
• To be a visible leader and be accessible to clinical staff, services users and carers.

About the team:

Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group and Lambeth Council want the people of Lambeth to have a fully integrated and coordinated mental health system which focuses on people’s strengths and supports their whole health and wellbeing. They have commissioned the Lambeth Living Well Network (LWN) Alliance to lead, co-ordinate and, in large part, deliver support and services for those experiencing mental health issues in Lambeth.

The LWN Alliance is responsible for the large majority of the adult mental health services in Lambeth, including the existing Living Well Network as well as all inpatient and community care. The LWN Alliance functions as a virtual organisation, bringing together Certitude, Lambeth Clinical Commissioning Group, Lambeth Council, South London & Maudsley NHS FT and Thames Reach. The expertise and perspectives of its member organisations to deliver the mandate as set by Lambeth CCG and Council.

The objectives of the LWN Alliance are to improve access to support including easier early access and a rapid crisis response, integrate and coordinate care and support for people and their networks across Lambeth, reduce the inequalities experienced by people experiencing mental health problems, manage demand and resources effectively and drive culture change including leadership and asset-based working.
