Summary


We have an exciting opportunity to appoint an experienced Health Adviser (HA) who will help shape the future of the Unity Sexual Health Adviser and Chlamydia Screening Programme (CSP) service.

The ideal candidate will have previous staff and operational management experience, ensuring they can meet competing service demands to deliver safe and effective care to patients.

The HA and CSP teams undertake a range of administrative and patients facing/clinical roles, so collaborative and effective communication skills are essential, as is an ability to problem solve and prioritise the workload to meet competing service needs.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Managing, supervising and developing the HA service to ensure provision of advice, information, education and counselling to patients
diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infections such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, trichomonas, herpes, syphilis, hepatitis B&C and HIV.
• Developing and implementing clinic wide policies in conjunction with the Service Manager and Triumvirate.
• Ensure the smooth day to day delivery of the Sexual Health Service collaboratively with the Service Manager, cover consultant, nurse
lab co-ordinator and reception supervisor raising and resolving operational issues with the appropriate person(s).
• Undertaking partner notification, ensuring attendance and treatment of contacts.

The postholder will be required to work rotational evenings and weekends.

• Ensure the smooth day to day delivery of the Sexual Health Service in conjunction with the Service Manager and Unity Triumvirate,
raising and resolving operational issues as appropriate.
• Develop and implement clinic wide policies in conjunction with the Service Manager and Clinical medical lead.
• Ensure team of Health Advisers undertake partner notification to ensure the attendance and treatment of contacts.
• Provide pre-test HIV discussion and post-test discussion and/or counselling.
• Management of the Pre Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) service.
• Provide follow-up counselling and psychosocial care for HIV antibody positive patients as required.
• Manage Chlamydia Screening Programme team.
• Work within the guidelines outlined by appropriate regulating body, as in line with the Society of Sexual Health Advisers (SSHA) code of conduct and local and national guidelines.
• Ensure practice is based on best evidence available.
• Act as a resource to other professionals.
