Summary
· Lead the 24 hour provision of high quality women centered care acrossthe maternity inpatient areas (cross site).
· Act as an expert resource and role model for the team within their service to support them in the delivery of effective care.
· Be responsible for maintaining an environment in which all
women and families receive a high standard of compassionate
and individualised care.
· Demonstrate clinical steer and leadership in the management of
both low and high risk complex maternity care.
· Identify and facilitate delivery of local and national strategies
to enable ongoing service improvement.
· Develop initiatives and organisational change by contributing to the clinical governance and risk management agenda by ensuring best practice is evident.
· Implement and follow HR policies regarding workforce management.
· Be responsible for ensuring safe deployment of resources to
meet and comply with professional midwifery standards,
governance, quality and patient safety within an agreed budgetset.
· An on-call and MDT safe today chairing commitment will be
required to support oversight and the safe running of the maternity
service.
Continually act as a highly credible professional clinical leader
being a strong professional role model for others to emulate at all
times.
Be involved in the delivery of clinical care in a developmental
capacity.
Using highly developed innovative management skills to actively
challenge own and others traditional practice, to improve service
delivery, patient centred care and communication.
Assist the Director of Midwifery, Head of Midwifery and Deputy
Head of Midwifery in providing professional leadership,
management and advice within the maternity Directorate.
Review rosters for designated areas to ensure staffing levels
support the safe delivery of care, whilst effectively utilising
resources and maintaining roster rules.
Ensure mechanisms are in place to promote a healthy lifestyle and
provide choice for women.
Provide professional advice to patient, carers and colleagues.
Promote a culture of working and integration of standards
across the two sites.
Promote high standards of infection control compliance.
Assist the Deputy Head of Midwifery and Head of Midwiferyin
the development of policies/procedures in performance, risk
management, recruitment and retention of health and safety.
The post holder will deputise for the Deputy Head of Midwifery
and his/her Matron peers in their absence.
