Summary
The Early Years Practitioner plays a pivotal role in providing high-quality care and education for children in their formative years, typically from birth to five years old.
This role involves creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where children can learn and develop skills through play-based activities. Early Years practitioners support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development while working closely with families to ensure a holistic care and continuity between home and early years setting. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate nursery practitioner to join our team.
Duties
• Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for children both indoors and outdoors.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities based on the early years foundation stage framework.
• Supervise and engage with children during playtime both in and outdoor, snacks, and rest periods.
• Observe and monitor children’s development and behaviour.
• Collaborate with parents and guardians to ensure the well being of each child.
• Maintain accurate records of each child’s progress and development.
• Complete all daily nursery tasks satisfactorily as delegated.
• Document and log any incidents or accidents.
• Ensure the safety, well-being, and safeguarding of all children in the setting, adhering to relevant policies and procedures, and promoting a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and respected.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to support children’s needs.
• Engage in ongoing professional development.
Experience
• Previous experience working with children in a nursery or childcare setting is required.
• Knowledge of early childhood and education principles and practices.
• Strong leadership skills to effectively manage a group of children.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge and understanding of the statutory framework for the EYFS are met.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Keyperson for groups of children
Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum level 2/3 qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent (eg CACHE level 2/3 Diploma in childcare and Education, NVQ Level 2/3 in childcare)
• A relevant qualification in Early Childhood Education
