We are seeking a proactive and experienced Deputy Facilities Manager to join our team at the University of Greenwich, operating across the Avery Hill and Medway Campuses. In this critical role, you will ensure the seamless delivery of facilities management services, touching the lives of hundreds of students and staff every day. As Deputy Facilities Manager reporting to the Account Manager, you will be a pivotal force in the operational excellence and strategic management of a vibrant 664-bed student accommodation facility. This role demands a dynamic blend of leadership, technical proficiency, and a keen focus on maintaining high standards of compliance and service delivery. The standard working hours are from Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and evening shifts required, including during summer school sessions.
What you’ll do:
  • To act as a Responsible Person (RP) for water management at the site and ensure compliance with ACOP L8 and industry good practise.
  • Proactively manage compliance with all legislation, client and company HSEQ policies, including fire safety, working at height, confined spaces, F-gas & gas safety etc.
  • Oversee and carry out maintenance of all buildings and equipment for which the Avery Hill PFI has direct responsibility.
  • Recognise the tenants need for confidentiality and their rights under ANUK while ensuring property maintenance and PPM schedules are met.
  • Work with the Facilities Manager to deliver safe and compliant buildings through regular inspection and the production of records and reports.

What you bring:

    • Proven management experience of a diverse workforce
    • Highly experienced in using Microsoft Office suite and computers
    • Experienced in compiling performance reports and competent in presenting to management.
    • Experience of using time management and payroll applications, including resource planning
    • Extensive experience of COSHH regulations
    • Have a good understanding of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
    • Experience of preparing for internal and external FM audits
    • ⁠Confident at building client and stakeholder relationships
      • Proven experience in delivering reactive maintenance services
      • Proven experience in leading and motivating a team
      • Proven experience in managing sub-contracted services
      • Proven experience in delivering to a budget
