Summary

This post will provide the successful applicant an exciting opportunity to work in one of the only combined Infection Departments in the UK, enabling them to gain experience in both Infectious Diseases and Microbiology. It is an ideal job for someone looking to pursue a career in Infection and wanting to improve their CV in anticipation of an application for core infection training.

This post is an exciting new role designed both to support our expending department and to nurture junior doctors with an interest in a career in Infection. There will be opportunities to gain experience in outpatient clinics (General Infection Diseases, hepatitis, HIV, Bone and joint infections), in-reach / referral services. The successful candidate will play an important role in delivering a microbiology bacteraemia service. At times there may be a need to support the ward team (2x FY1s, 1x FY2, 2x GP specialist trainees, a GIM trainee, a CIT registrar and a consultant) to provide high quality care on the 12 bedded Infectious Diseases ward. An interest in research and/or teaching is encouraged and there are plenty of projects within the Department which the successful applicant will be encouraged to get involved in.

The post holder will participate in 1:7 on call rota at junior level on the Castle Hill Hospital site.

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
