Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone who enjoys working outdoors, this will involve some elements of patrolling on foot in all weathers and may also require the successful candidate to carry out some heavy lifting and manual handling duties. You will need to have the commitment and passion required to help to deliver a high-quality service as a Civil Enforcement Officer at Ipswich Borough Council.

The Enforcement team assists Suffolk County Council to meet the demands of the Traffic Management Act 2004, ensuring the free flow of traffic movement and that people park legally, alongside managing various on-street and off-street parking facilities within our remit.

Day to day

Officers will need to provide excellent customer care, within an important Council service that supports the day-to-day activities of local residents, businesses, and visitors to the area, building good working relationships with other service areas as well as with external agencies such as the Police and DVLA.

Duties include patrolling restricted parking areas, car parks, on street pay and display parking bays and residents parking zones, to monitor compliance and ensure all Pay and Display machines are operational and immobilisation or removal of vehicles in contravention.

The role requires working a 3 week shift pattern that includes evening, weekends and some bank holidays.

About you

You must have the ability to communicate with customers, be able to provide excellent people skills in order to assist members of the public and be able to handle and diffuse difficult situations.

This role will be patrolling in all weather conditions (protective clothing supplied) previous experience is an advantage.

You will be responsible for providing an efficient and effective service of parking enforcement in order to minimise vehicles parking in contravention and issuing penalty charge notices where required. This will be in accordance with the council’s objectives and policies.

This position will be subject to an DBS. Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence.
