A great opportunity has arisen for a permanent, Band 4 Medical Secretary. The post holder will manage the office administration of the Consultant and other medical staff within the Early Intervention service (EIS), providing an efficient and effective high quality secretarial service to support medical staff in maintaining a safe, efficient and effective clinical service.
The post holder will be required to work flexibly in response to the needs of the networks administrative service, providing cover to departments on various sites as directed by their Line Manager to ensure continuity of a quality service provision.
Evidence of a good general education is essential together with good communication skills and excellent organisation ability. You must have fast keyboard skills. Knowledge of working within the NHS will be an advantage and computer skills will be essential.
The successful applicant will require a mature, flexible approach and the ability to work within a busy team. They will also be expected to use their own initiative and work unsupervised to ensure the effective coordination of duties.

22.5 hours per week, Mon/Wed/Fri (Please note that this position has the potential to transition into a full-time role of 37.5 hours per week in the future)

ThemedicalsecretaryisakeymemberoftheMentalHealthNetwork.Theywillassistintheprovision of effective and efficient services by providing a comprehensive professional secretarial and administrative service to a team of consultants and junior doctors within Mental Health Liaison team, liaising effectively wherever necessary with other team members and externalagencies.



In order to carry out the duties to a professional standard, the medical secretary will be expectedtoutilisearange oftechnicalskillswhichmayincludeword processing,useofemailandotherITskills, audiotranscriptionandmedical/pharmacologicalterminology.He/shewillalsobeexpectedtoemploy highlyeffectiveinterpersonalandcommunicationskillsandwillberequiredtoworkfrequentlywithout direct supervision. The confidential nature of all work concerning patients must be understood and safeguarded and the particular sensitivities to mental health issuesrespected.



The post holder will be required to cover for absent colleagues when and where necessary for short periods of time such as annual leave and short-term sickness

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
