Summary

Our client Scottish Power are currently recruiting for a Senior People Consultant to join their team based in Glasgow. on a contract basis initially. Ideally they are looking for someone with significant experience developing HR solutions from first principles addressing complex business problems, proven experience managing major business change projects from a people perspective for Senior Business and HR Stakeholders, sophisticated stakeholder management skills and experience or interest in operating in a collaborative agile model

As a member of the Solutions Team within People Strategy you will have responsibility for delivery of People Solutions and projects. Delivering on behalf of ScottishPower People and Organisation and the Iberdrola Group ensuring delivery approaches align with Iberdrola Group principles, values, and business priorities.

Working to deliver a variety of projects, some from first principles and concepts you will develop solutions to drive customer value and support business development by applying diagnostics to complex problems, through consultancy conversations with a focus on the employee experience.

Managing significant projects and programmes of activity for Senior Business and People and Organisation Stakeholders, you will work with agility adapting plans to manage changing priorities

1. Work with agility within a consultancy teamworking model, focused on pace, collaboration change agency, leveraging skills & specialisms, and team & personal development.
2. Design and facilitate the implementation of major business development and change management programmes to support organisational change and performance improvement in line with organisational values facilitate the development, embedding and application of solutions in support of organisation performance.
3. Gather and analyse a range of complex data, information, and situation detail to identify effective and value add solutions and ensure agreement on approach for way forward and/or delivery where no precedent exists and/or options conflict.
4. Proactively engage with the relevant business, expert area, or Group contact to accurately diagnose, determine and challenge to ensure the appropriate strategy, method, support or vehicle is employed to deliver integrated people solutions that support business development, address business need and maximise performance.
5. Maximise the business performance through development, implementation, and measurement of new significant, solutions across the organisation. Whilst taking a data-centric approach to identifying gaps and opportunities.
6. Responsibility for assessment of risk (including Employee Relations and Employment Law), business readiness and identification of barriers to change on an ongoing basis throughout the planning, development and implementation of solutions, programmes and projects
7. Lead teams on a matrix basis as required to develop and implement solutions to drive and improve business performance
8. Responsible for delivering and completing projects within agreed timeframes and reporting on progress of delivery, identifying and highlighting challenges and risks to the relevant stakeholders.

9. As a senior member of the Solutions Team contribute to a culture of development by sharing skills and knowledge, and by coaching other members of the team to aid development.
10. Effectively manage own internal and external network to facilitate collaborating and sharing of knowledge and expertise.
11. Actively manage relationships with relevant Group Iberdrola colleagues, ensuring ScottishPower is aligned with Group people and business strategy, approach, and solutions

Leading programmes and projects solutions over complex matrix management structures working with the most senior level of business and People and Organisation Stakeholders.
Programmes and projects will require sophisticated stakeholder management of senior customer in ScottishPower and Iberdrola Group and will typically require consultation and negotiation at a Company Council or Business Council level and involve Exec Team governance.
Programmes and projects will typically be on behalf of the Group or whole business and / or require significant number of diagnoses and strategic thinking where there is limited precedent.

• Graduate or equivalent with appropriate professional qualification (CIPD+), and in-depth Employment Legislation knowledge
• Senior HR professional with broad generalist experience contributing at a strategic level
• Substantial experience in consultancy at a senior level and in ambiguous situations
• Proven ability to operate in a collaborative environment
• Ability to make robust data-led decisions
• Experience of strategic thinking, planning and analysis skills, with the ability to translate strategy into solutions and identify people implications
• Significant HR experience delivering complex HR Change and business development programmes and projects, by applying change management methodologies
• Demonstrated ability to influence strategic change and organisational performance
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and programs successfully across the project lifecycle in a matrix style
• Strong commercial skills from an organisational and industry perspective
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to influence Senior Stakeholders (including Executive level)
• Significant knowledge of industry best practices and trends
• Proven ability of working collaboratively with the business and People Teams

Organises own workload over a typically 1+ year horizon
Takes account of several competing priorities
Delivers across ScottishPower and Iberdrola Group
Holds shared responsibility for organising the workload of programme and project team members through discussions with Head of Solutions
Makes recommendations to Senior People Stakeholders and the Business on People solutions in relation to strategic people plans over a 3+ year period.

Maintain an external focus, ensuring knowledge of industry trends and best practice and building a network of external contacts to monitor environment and ensure competitive approach.

Maintain internal focus to identify connections across SP Business and Group to better add value for customers through the development of integrated solutions.

Internal Contacts: People Strategy, Performance and Governance and People Services: Actively partner with to ensure effective, risk assessed, and managed delivery of People Solution is achieved that considers all parties’ requirements.

• People and Business Stakeholders/Clients: rapidly build relationships with clients to assess and challenge their needs in relation to People solution requirement.
• Senior BPs: Form a relationship with the Senior Business Partners that allows independent delivery of projects and provides appropriate client / project reporting.
• People Leadership Team: Influence to consider potential approaches to solutions and their wider implications and seek to reach agreement on way forward.
• Iberdrola Group: collaborative working on global plans and strategic alignment

Minimum criteria:

• Graduate or equivalent with appropriate professional qualification (CIPD)
• A senior HR professional with broad HR experience and senior-level consultancy experience
• Significant experience developing HR solutions from first principles addressing complex business problems
• Proven experience managing major business change projects from a people perspective for Senior Business and HR Stakeholders
• Experience or interest in operating in a collaborative agile model
