Are you looking for a new challenge? Would you like to join a warm, welcoming and inclusive multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing flexible, creative, person-cantered and evidence-based support within an inpatient mental health setting for adults and older people?

If so, a fantastic opportunity has arisen for two band 6 Speech and Language therapists to join our multidisciplinary team and support the development of the Speech and Language Therapy clinical pathways and service offer for the specialist mental health inpatient service. These are newly created posts within a brand new team and will be supported by a highly specialist speech and language therapist working across the three inpatient locality services within the care group. There is a post available at both Bowmere Hospital at Chester and Springview Hospital on the Wirral.

The roles provides an opportunity to be actively involved in service development projects to ensure the provision of a high quality service.

The post holders will be expected to support the development of the SLT service within inpatient specialist mental health services. The post holders will carry a caseload, completing assessments and interventions, including assessment and management of communication needs, dysphagia/eating and drinking difficulties and advising on inclusive communication strategies for people with a range of mental health needs and co-occurring conditions who are supported within specialist mental health inpatient services. The post holders will also offer advice, training and consultation to other clinicians and support staff . The post holders will take a key role improving the identification and support of people on the autistic spectrum and will have experience and additional training in this area. The successful applicants will work within a multi-disciplinary team comprising of a range of mental health professionals. There will be regular professional supervision. The posts will involve liaison, joint-working and providing advice to other clinical, social and care agencies and other external agencies when appropriate.
