Job Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join our team in Ipswich, Suffolk. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality English lessons tailored to meet the specific needs of students with SEMH challenges. The role involves fostering a love of literature, language, and communication while providing differentiated instruction and support to help students overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging and interactive English lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of students with SEMH needs, incorporating a variety of teaching strategies and resources.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to participate actively in their learning.
- Develop personalized learning plans and interventions to support students' social, emotional, and academic progress, working closely with support staff and external agencies as needed.
- Foster a love of reading, writing, and communication through the exploration of diverse texts, genres, and creative activities.
- Provide constructive feedback and assessment to students, supporting them in setting and achieving academic and personal goals.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop cross-curricular projects and initiatives that promote literacy skills, social-emotional learning, and well-being.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behaviour, ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures.
- Participate in regular team meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events to contribute to the wider life of the school community.

Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Specialism or significant experience in teaching English at the secondary level.
- Understanding of SEMH issues and their impact on learning and behaviour.
- Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of students with SEMH challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families.
- Commitment to promoting inclusion, equality, and diversity within the school community in Ipswich, Suffolk.
- A positive and resilient attitude, with a genuine passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
