Summary

NHNN: SHOs rotate through weeks of inpatient ward work & time on the daycare unit. Shifts are a combination of standard hours (usually 8.30am to 5pm) & on-call shifts. The junior doctors are based on Gowers Ward & work four long days per week (no on calls or night shifts). Depending on the working day, the start times vary between 08:00 & 09:00, & the end times vary between 18:00 & 19:00. The other day is for private study, audit, research or teaching commitments at The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery or UCLH. Experience As the post holder will manage the Neurology inpatients overnight without a registrar on site (NHNN only), experience in general medicine in a UK hospital is preferred. Teaching There are daily opportunities to attend teaching. These include grand rounds, clinico-pathologic cases, bedside teaching & consultant-led tutorials, often by international experts. Two teaching sessions are protected: a weekly teaching session for MRCP PACES neurology & a weekly CMT teaching session tied to the curriculum & delivered by consultants. Supervision All trainees will have a named educational supervisor & an electronic portfolio on which to log progress.
