This is an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Headache Nurse Specialist to join the renowned Headache and Facial Pain Group for the episodic service at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

The headache and facial pain team provide a national tertiary service to patients with complex and chronic headache presentations. We are establishing a new episodic service, aimed at providing specialised care for patients experiencing episodic headaches including CGRP monoclonal antibody antagonist therapy.



Our service is expanding, and we are looking for a dynamic and experienced nurse to join our headache nursing team. The post holder will work alongside and collaborate with a multidisciplinary group of experts to provide top-tier headache care including consultants, headache nurses, psychologists, neurosurgeons and other medical colleagues. You will be expected to exercise a high degree of professional autonomy and to make critical judgements using specialist knowledge; you will provide the highest standard of holistic patient care for patients with headache disorders. You will have responsibility for assessing patients and subsequently devising, implementing and assessing an individual's comprehensive Headache management plan.

The post holder will need to work closely with the headache nursing team, consultant neurologists and health colleagues within primary and secondary care, social care and voluntary agencies, contributing to and implementing care for people with headache.

A background in neurology and/or neurosurgery is essential. Whilst previous headache experience is desirable, training, support and development will be provided

Supervision is available from the Lead Headache Nurse and the rest of headache nursing team.
