Summary


We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly motivated registered ODP or Nurse with Day Surgery experience to join our management team at Raedwald Day Surgery Unit within the Garrett Anderson Centre.

The Day Surgery Development Coordinator is a rewarding and varied specialist role where you will have the opportunity to take part in shaping and developing the day surgery staff and service, working closely with the Clinical Leads and Team Leaders.

This role is a great opportunity for a senior registered practitioner to develop their leadership skills and grow professionally in a clinical setting. You will be part of a supportive team that values professional development.

The purpose built unit consists of 4 operating theatres (covering different specialities), 24 adult cubicles, 7 children’s cubicles and post anaesthetic recovery area.

We are looking for a registered ODP or Nurse who:
• Has excellent organisational and leadership skills.
• Has credible clinical skills, and is keen to support clinical excellence by supporting staff throughout the day surgery unit.
• Is self-motivated, adaptable and an agile thinker.
• Has excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills, with the ability to facilitate complex and challenging situations.
• Can demonstrate experience of collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other healthcare professionals within the wider MDT

In this role you will:
• Investigate incidents through the Datix reporting system.
• Support new staff during the on-boarding process.
• Mentor and coach junior staff, including creating teaching/learning materials.
• Manage attendance and performance.
• Coordinate a busy day surgery unit (theatres, wards and recovery) and manage skill mix.
• Champion continuous service improvements.
• Conduct appraisals and 1 to 1 conversations.
• Participate in the recruitment, selection and retention of staff.
• Organise training to meet departmental needs, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required.
• Support Health and Safety compliance by working with link staff to ensure risk assessments are up to date and actioned.
• Perform clinical duties.
• Support Stores Lead in ensuring procurement needs are met, sourcing alternatives as needed.
