Summary
We have an opportunity for two motivated individuals to work alongside the Infant Feeding Lead,providing infant feeding support and contributing to the delivery of the Family Hubs agenda.
The role will require the successful candidate toprovide specialist knowledgeandskills in infant feeding, along with theoretical and practical expertise related to the Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI).
You will need to be flexible in your approachpromoting breastfeeding and providing support for infant feeding to expectant mothers, their families, and the broader Newham Hospital community.
• Provide specialist knowledge in the field of infant feeding and promote breastfeeding to pregnant women, their families and the wider community in Newham and to provide information and support to enable women to breastfeed their babies for as long as they wish
• Deliver breastfeeding workshops and groups both at the antenatal and postnatal stage.
• Promote and refer families to community based offers of infant feeding support and health visiting support when required.
• Ensure ongoing CPD in the specialist field of infant feeding. This must include underpinning your practice with theoretical knowledge gained through research including updates from the Breast Feeding Network (BFN) and Baby Friendly Initiative (BFi) and applying and implementing the relevant practical, evidence based information to your field of work.
• Support all women in feeding their babies in line with UNICEF Baby Friendly standards.
• Apply specialist knowledge and experience in the autonomous management of own caseload and care-plans.
• Work collaboratively with midwives in the co-ordination of patient centered care-plans.
• Provide clinical interventions with feeding plans where necessary. This may include setting up lactation aids, Finger Feeding aids, cup/syringe feeding equipment and setting up breast pumps.
• Carry out teaching sessions with members of the multidisciplinary team, including; Doctors, Midwives, Nurses and students.
