Summary

A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF

I am a full-time wheelchair user, in my 30's living in the Ely area of Cardiff. I have an average of 16 hours a week available. I have very supportive parents although I live alone and I’m keen to be as independent as possible, within my limitations. For safety reasons, it’s difficult for me to cook without supervision, but I’m keen to develop my skills. You will also need to be able to travel with me, including staying over when I’m visiting friends I am also a foodie. If eating good food is your idea of fun, you have just found the perfect job! I’m an easy-going guy and have a very loving cat living with me. I also love going to bingo, cinema - watching horror films although my disability makes me jump a lot, but I really don’t care! I also enjoy going to pedal power, bowling and just generally getting out and about. Mileage expenses will be paid you will be responsible for arranging business cover on your car insurance.

PURPOSE OF JOB

I’m keen to access community and in addition to the things mentioned above I like to do food shopping once a week.

PLACE OF WORK

You will be working both in my home and in the community, possibly including some overnight stays so that I can visit friends et cetera.


HOURS OF WORK

I have an average of 16 hours a week available. Flexibility is essential as my needs may vary day-to-day. Therefore the tasks and hours will vary accordingly.


RATE OF PAY

£12.00 an hour.

TASKS INVOLVED

• Assistance helping me access to community, including Coffee Shops, supermarkets bingo et cetera.
• Assisting me to do the things I find difficult, associated with this kind of job.
• Building my skills and confidence.
• Cooking, cleaning and tidying.
• Driving me to appointments and social events, providing any assistance I need whilst there.
• Visits to the Barbers once a fortnight.

TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED

• Honest and trustworthy.
• Punctual and reliable.
• Practical and confident.
• Full driving licence with a car that can carry my manual wheelchair. (My chair folds down and collapses fitting in most cars).
• Ability to cook.

ABOUT THE JOB

Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A probation period will be necessary in the first instance. Wages will be paid monthly via bank transfer. You will receive 5.6 weeks paid holiday (pro rata). You will be required to apply for a DBS check at no expense to you.
