Summary

A little about me…

I am seeking a Support Worker to assist me at home and out and about. I have mild learning disabilities and my family are incredibly important to me. I have a young daughter with my wife and I am looking for support with this. I love going to the theatre and going for walks, as well as swimming and playing pool.

I am looking for someone to help me live my life the way that I was and to get fitter. I also need support with paperwork and home administration, if needed. Someone organised and friendly would be ideal.

Essential

- Must be 25+ and have a full, clean driving license in order to drive my Motability vehicle

- Someone reliable and with a good attention to detail.

- Someone patient and supportive.

- Someone happy to work in a family home and with experience working with children

- Someone who is down to earth and friendly.

- Someone happy to work in a non-smoking house.

Desirable

- Someone with local knowledge.

- Someone who is flexible with hours and availability.

Main Duties

Although this job description is correct at present, it may change from time to time after negotiation with the post holder.

- I struggle with my reading and writing, so someone to support me with my paperwork and my home organisation. You may have to help me read letters, pay bills, and work out what to do with them. I may also need support arranging appointments etc.
- Support me to maintain my health and wellbeing and to attend appointments in the local area.
- Someone to support me to get fitter and healthier.
- Support me to continue learning new skills and build my confidence.
- Assist me to care for my daughter, when needed.
- Someone to help me find activities to do in the community.

Terms and Conditions

Hours of work

10 hours total per week: 6 set hours, plus 4 flexible hours

Days and times of work

Ideally: Friday 8.30am to 14.30pm, plus flexible weekday hours after 14:30pm

Flexibility of hours

Due to the nature of this job, you can be flexible around the hours that you work, as there may be cover work for the other Personal Assistants in the team.

Expenses

You will be reimbursed for any expenses incurred as part of the role.

Annual leave

The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work which would normally be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.

Background Checks

A satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for this position. Please note this cost is covered by the employer.

If successful, you will be required to provide details of two referees, one of which must be your current or most recent employer, or character references if you have not been employed.

Trial Period

This post is subject to a probationary period of 3 months.
