Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager and supporting the Maintenance Technicians, the Maintenance Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring that our facilities are well maintained, allowing staff and guests to enjoy a seamless and safe environment.

You will naturally be enthusiastic about being hands-on and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment dedicated to maintaining our facilities to the highest of standards.

Having a ‘can do’ and positive attitude to take on what is needed, and when it is needed is essential for this role. Duties will be varied across Taymouth Castle, Kenmore and Glenlyon estates.

There will be occasions when you will need to work outside.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the integrity and functionality of local utilities around Taymouth Castle, Kenmore and Glenlyon estates
  • Collaborate with team members to complete projects and tasks within established timelines, such as routine planned preventative maintenance and inspections, fault rectification work and fault investigations, as and when required.
  • Assist the Maintenance Technicians with plumbing, electrical and joinery work and emergency call outs to Taymouth Castle, Kenmore and Glenlyon.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and guests, resolving issues efficiently and to a high standard
  • Perform general cleaning and upkeep of workspace, machinery, tools and work vehicles ensuring they are fit and ready for purpose
  • Assist with the preparation and clean-up of areas, or equipment ahead of scheduled works
  • Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and report any shortages, or issues to the Maintenance Manager
  • Adhere to safety guidelines, legal standards and protocols, including maintaining records of maintenance activities and equipment to ensure a safe and secure working environment
  • Be ready to support other areas and roles, as and when required

Skills & Qualifications

Desirable Skills

  • Previous maintenance, or handyman experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, joinery and mechanics
  • Confident and knowledgeable about safe work practices and procedures when using hand tools (training for specialist tool/equipment/machinery will be provided).
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new maintenance techniques and technologies
  • Ability to work independently, as well as be a strong team player
  • Effective time management working under pressure and juggling competing priorities with minimum supervision
  • Natural ability to resolve queries, or problems in a practical and positive manner
  • Excellent attention to detail combined with professional presentation and strong work ethics
  • Good written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional guest service skills
  • Strong physical stamina with the ability to lift heavy objects, perform strenuous tasks and use ladders
  • Positive and flexible approach to work and able to work irregular/extended hours; including nights and weekends (required).

Desirable Qualifications

  • Proficient in the use of Information Communication Technology and ability to navigate mobile applications to report and record data and completed work accurately
  • Full UK Driving Licence Required
