Summary


You will work alongside nursing staff to care for patients on a Rehabilitation ward Rehabilitation ward, to promote independence.

Reedyford ward is a 24 bedded Rehab intermediate care / rehabilitation unit where our patients are medically optimized but need further therapy. We are looking to appoint enthusiastic Healthcare Support worker to work alongside our nursing and therapy team.

We are looking for confident and caring candidates that are able to provide cares with dignity and compassion whilst support the patient and family through recovery.
• Assist with the admission and discharge of patients - appropriate duties may include listing of clothing and assistance with dressing and undressing.
• Weigh patients and chart weight.
• Assist with making occupied and unoccupied beds.
• Help patients to prepare for meals and assist in the service of meals. Serve refreshments and simple diets where appropriate.
• Help with the feeding of patients in all age groups.
• Assist with bathing in bed and in the bathroom, with the moving and handling of patients, including the use of mechanical aids and bed appliances.
• Help patients with personal hygiene, including care of hair, teeth and nails as required.
• Assist in the care of pressure areas and the care of the incontinent patient. Undressing, taking to toilet and using sani-chairs and commodes.
• Participate in giving and/or removing toilet utensils.
• Care of sanitary utensils including disinfection of baths, bins and buckets after use, and the disinfection of beds and lockers according to hospital policy.
• Prepare, clean and tidy clinical rooms, clean nursing equipment and cupboards, excluding cupboards for storing controlled drugs and medicines.
• Answer the telephone, taking, recording and transmitting messages

They will be part of the ward based team and be supported with relevant training needs. The role will cover day shifts, weekends and nights on a rota basis.
