To work with my daughter who has Asperger’s. My daughter needs assistance to access activities in the community, and to access transport.I require a person that can be both caring and act as a reassurance to her when she is feeling anxious.
My daughter personal assistant must supervise her at all times, this does not mean hands on, they need to have a stepped back approach most of the time acting almost as a supervisor, they need to be aware of her vulnerability and her need to be kept safe, my daughter looks as though she is of “norm” and is high functioning so her disabilities can be forgotten.
SupervisionShe needs a hands-off approach, meaning most of the time you just need to be in the room to allow her to be independent and to build her confidence, she at times will need encouraging where she lacks confidence and also being she is a teenager reminding of appropriate respect and boundariesMain dutiesMy daughter’s personal assistant will be required to do the followingtasks and may be asked to carry out other tasks of a similar nature.Support Tasks· Accompany my daughter on days out· Accompany my daughter to activities in the community· Accompany my daughter to social activities· Suggest activities that my daughter would enjoy· Be mindful of my daughter’s safety at all times,· Always supervise my daughter, and do not allow her to be alone even if this is at a distance· Use strategies to distract encourage her when she is feeling less confident· Have clear boundaries set and expectations of behaviour whilst she is with you.
