Summary

We are looking for residential support workers for our Children’s home in the Nottingham area. It is an exciting time to join a growing company and an ideal opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the children we support. This will be a challenging, yet ultimately rewarding role.

We are looking for experienced support workers for shifts on a rota basis, to cover day shifts and sleep ins. There is also the opportunity for overtime shifts which can include day shifts, waking night and sleeps.

The role will be to support children between the ages of 7 and 17, providing them with a supportive role model and will support them to develop essential life skills whilst living in a positive, happy home. The needs and abilities of the children within our care vary, so the successful candidates would need to be patient, understanding and able to support the children in accordance with their individual care plans.

The successful candidate will need to have a minimum of 1 years’ experience in working in a children’s residential setting and be caring and supportive. Ideally, they will need to have a level 3/4 qualification in Childrens, Young Peoples and Families Workforce, or be willing to complete it. You will need to be flexible in your availability as you may be required to work additional shifts to provide cover for absence/annual leave. It is also a requirement that you have a full driving licence, due to the nature of the tasks within the role.

Key duties include but are not limited to:
· Providing the children within our care with support that meets their individual physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and cultural needs, whilst assisting in providing a caring, supportive, and nurturing environment.
· Helping children gain self-control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro-social conduct.
· Being ambitious for children, helping them achieve their goals and optimise their potential, empowering children and facilitating their active involvement in the decision making about their lives and future.
· Be an advocate for the children to enable their voices to be heard.
· Keeping accurate records to support the care of the children and to enable us to work effectively with the team around the child and liaising with other professionals to support the children and to help them stay safe and well.

If you feel as though you would like to work in our close-knit team, to support the children and young people in our care, help them stay safe and support them to develop the skills they need for their futures, please contact us for an application form.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
