Summary


We are looking for a psychosexual and relationship therapist, or psychologist/ psychotherapist with sex and relationship therapy experience, to work at The Royal Marsden Hospital.

We are looking for a 0.9wte, AfC band 7 qualified clinician. The role requires the post holder to be onsite at least 2 days each week (1 day in Chelsea and 1 day in Sutton).

The Adult Psychological Support Service (APSS)provides psychosexual and relationship therapy to cancer patients and their partners to managethe impact of cancer and its treatment on functioning and emotional intimacy.

You would offer clinical supervision to trainees in the service; as well as to medical, nursing and AHP colleagues. You would also input to service policy and development.

You will be joining a supportive and friendly team of qualified and trainee staff from across a range of clinical backgrounds, including counselling, psychology, psychiatry and mental health nursing. There are excellent CPD opportunities.

• To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner in written and verbal form, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans for patients under the psychosexual and relationship therapist’s care and to monitor therapeutic progress. To communicate with patients and couples about difficult and distressing issues related to sexual well-being and the patient’s physical and emotional health status.
• To provide specialist psychosexual and relationship advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals (e.g. medics, clinical nurse specialists, advocates, physiotherapist, interpreters, APSS colleagues), contributing directly to formulation, diagnosis and development of a sexual rehabilitation treatment plan. To liaise with multi-disciplinary teams and participate in multidisciplinary meetings where appropriate.
• To attend case conferences, reviews and other meetings as and when appropriate.
• Ensure that reports and other correspondence are entered into the relevant notes and communicated to other professionals appropriately with due consideration of confidentiality and consent.
