Summary


The Privacy, Transparency & Trust (PTT) Sub-directorate is a sub-directorate of the Delivery Directorate. The mission of the PTT Sub-directorate is to enable NHS England to drive innovation and improve lives through greater use of data and technology and to be a well-run organisation. The PTT Sub-directorate will enable and promote public trust in NHS England’s custodianship of staff, workforce and patient data. This aligns with the new legal duty of NHS England to have regard to the need to respect and promote privacy of patients and the core principles that underpin NHS England as a safe haven of patient data.

As an Information Governance Officer, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service providing information governance support and assistance to managers and staff across the organisation to increase awareness of Information Governance and embed good practice.

The role of an Information Governance Officer is to provide essential support to the work and mission of the PTT Sub-directorate. The role is key for helping colleagues within PTT deliver key operational IG activities.



The postholder’s main duties will include:
• Supporting the drafting of key information governance documents, including information governance policies and procedures, data protection impact assessments, privacy notices, etc.
• Assisting with the provision of timely, clear and practical IG advice on a range of matters, services, and projects, including advice on privacy by design.
• Communicating and raising awareness of key IG issues with colleagues who are not specialists in IG and raising awareness of IG issues across the organisation.
• Conducting IG related research in order to perform role.
• Working collaboratively across team, function, and organisational boundaries, to achieve the best outcomes for the organisation. Engaging and contributing to a team culture of continuous improvement and excellent service delivery.
• Developing and maintaining effective relationships with a range of internal colleagues, with sometimes different perspectives, to address IG related matters.
• Collating and analysing information and assisting with producing reports and key performance information to evaluate the organisation’s compliance with IG related requirements.

Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Salary Progression
Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 6 with a full-time starting salary of £35,392, with pay step increases after 2 years’ service and 5 years' service.

For posts based in Inner London, the above salaries will include the additional supplement of 20% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £5,132 per annum and a maximum payment of £7,746 per annum.

This is offered in accordance with NHS Terms and Conditions and is based on office location.
