Introduction to York St John University
Situated in the heart of the historic city of York, and with the addition of our London Campus, York St John University has a long and proud tradition as a distinguished higher education provider.
Our success is founded on the quality of academic teaching and research, our thriving campus environments, our professional and pastoral support, and our values of an inclusive, innovative and ambitious community with a strong sense of belonging.
The team
The Conversion Team is part of the wider Marketing Department, which in turn is part of the Directorate of Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions. The team produces conversion campaigns including mainly email marketing with some mail outs. This activity aims to convert prospective undergraduate and postgraduate students into enrolled students.
The successful candidate will manage the Conversion Team in collaboration with the Conversion and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Manager, as well as work on specific conversion and content activity themselves.
They’ll also work with the Marketing Team and Digital Team, which are part of the wider Marketing Department, as well as work with other teams in the Directorate and stakeholders across the University.
The role
The Conversion and Content Manager is a part time role for three days a week, i.e. 0.6 full time equivalent (FTE). The successful candidate will play a key role in the Conversion Team along with the Conversion and CRM Manager who also has a working pattern of 0.6 FTE. The successful candidate and the Conversion and CRM Manager will work in close collaboration and together will be able to agree an approach to co-ordinating two 0.6 FTE roles. It is anticipated that there will be a day week when both role holders are working together.
The successful candidate will lead and manage the creation of content for high quality targeted communications to prospective students when they are both enquirers and applicants, as well as their key influencers such as parents, carers and teachers.
They will develop and oversee the production of wide-ranging student led content (including blogs and vlogs) by co-ordinating a group of students to bring to life what York St John University offers.
This role is at the forefront of our efforts to recruit students who share our core values and to widen participation in higher education. Experience of working in a higher education setting is desirable, but not essential.
The role holder will also play a key role in ensuring that conversion activity works in conjunction with and complements both marketing and digital activity so that we are considering the whole customer journey.
Required skills and experience
The successful candidate will have skills in and experience of creating engaging content across a wide range of channels for many diverse target audiences. They’ll have marketing knowledge and experience, particularly in campaign planning, delivery and implementation. As well as this, they’ll also be comfortable managing team members, workloads and processes.
In addition, they’ll have the ability to write high quality, engaging marketing copy, as well as manage various stakeholders and projects. They’ll also use performance analytics to measure the success of our conversion activity, and in turn use these results to inform future activity.
