Join Us for a Morning of Discovery at our Level 3 neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at our showcase event onMonday 10th June at St Michael’s Hospital, Bristol.

Are you ready to embark on an enriching journey into the heart of neonatal care? Join us for an exclusive showcase event at our renowned NICU, where you’ll have the opportunity to dive into the world of neonatal nursing like never before.

‍⚕️Meet our Expert Team: Get to know the dedicated professionals who form the backbone of our NICU. We have a large multidisciplinary team (MDT) from nurses, nursery nurses, medics, consultants, allied health care professionals, all with a wealth of experience and knowledge. All of which are committed to following our unit philosophy: working together with families to provide high quality, individualised care.

Hands-On Skills and Simulation: We have an excellent simulation team with state-of-the-art equipment to provide real time scenarios on NICU and delivery suite. Working alongside our experienced team you will have the opportunity to participate and reflect on various scenarios; providing a snapshot into a day in the life of an experienced NICU nurse at St Michaels and see how we work as one MDT.
• Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate prescribed treatment and care for patients and their families.
• Communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality with patient’s carers and the multi-disciplinary team.
• Act as a professional role model setting standards of practice.
• Promote clinical effectiveness and opportunities for teaching junior colleagues and students.
• Promote and maintain a safe environment for patients.
• Administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy.
• Develop clinical skills and participate in continuous professional development.
• Provide accurate timely contemporary records of care and treatment in line with Trust record keeping policy and NMC

ℹ️About our Unit:Our NICU is one of three level three centres operating in the South West neonatal network. We are a tertiary centre and care for babies with respiratory, surgical, neurological and cardiac needs; this includes extreme pre-term babies and term babies from across the south west. Our mission is to provide consistent and excellent family centred care with the best possible outcomes for all our patients and their families. We strive to provide an environment that promotes team working and fosters learning and research in a culture of openness and honesty to maintain our high standards. Infants will be cared for by an expert multidisciplinary team in an environment that is supportive of the developing relationship between families and their baby.
