Specialist Surgery Directorate is part of the Neuroscience, Orthopaedic, Trauma and Specialist Surgery (NOTSS)Division. The Directorate consists of ENT, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Blenheim Head & Neck and Oral Maxillo-Facial surgery, Orthodontics and Restorative dentistry.





The role will be supervised by a designated consultant who will oversee the career and ensure ongoing professional development. It is envisaged that the role will develop flexibly over time in line with the needs of the service and to some degree in accordance with the post holder’s clinical interests.





It is intended that this will be a transformational post with the primary objectives of:
• providing a seamless and the highest possible standards of patient care at an advanced clinical practitioner level
• enhancing staff development, recruitment, and retention
• increase the flexibility and productivity of the nursing team through effective nursing leadership.
• supporting the facilitation of the Directorate’s Nursing Practice Development plan

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, adaptable, and ambitious. They need to be clinically confident with an interest in all aspects of ENT Nursing, research, service development and have higher level abilities to fulfil the requirements of the post.

This is a new position in the ENT service and will contribute to the delivery of a high quality, patient centred service.

The role is being developed to work alongside the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will work autonomously at ACP level. They will liaise with other professions and services as required and complete all appropriate documentation.

This transformational post will provide Operational Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) Nursing leadership to support the Aural Care service within the ENT service based in the West Wing of the John Radcliffe Hospital and community services.

The overall aim of this new post is to lead and develop the Aural Care service to meet the increasing needs of our Otology patients. The successful postholder will be expected to lead the strategic direction of the Aural Care service and will be supported by a small team of Aural Care nurses. The successful applicant will also assume management responsibility for the Aural Care service.
