Hours per week: 19.5 Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm

Role Length: This opening assignment is for 2-3 months

The successful candidate will seek and provide the best circumstances for a reception pupil with SEMH and limited communication skills to learn and develop.

Key Responsibilities:

To support SEMH pupil’s access to the mainstream curriculum, ensuring that they have equitable access to this.
Under the guidance of specialist professionals and class teacher carry out and support delivery of a personalised curriculum.
Communicate with all pupils according to their particular communication needs through effective practice in a total communication environment.
Under the guidance of the class teacher/QToD/Specialists and using their observational skills and training: assist in the delivery and assessment of pupils’ individual programmes and targets.

Qualifications:

Degree in the relevant field.



Skills & Experience

Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Experience of dealing with children and young people who require support in regulating their behaviour and emotions.
Have a sound understanding of a range of strategies that support pupils to manage their emotions.
Strong communication skills to liaise with parents and other professionals.
Strong emotional intelligence to support in identifying when pupils are becoming dysregulated so they can step in before pupils reach crisis point.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
