Summary

A Vacancy at Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking to recruit one full time Specialty doctor to provide clinical care as part of the CAMEO Early Intervention in Psychosis Service in the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT). The post will be based in Cambridge with occasional flexible work in Peterborough.

CAMEO is a multi-award-winning community mental health service for people who are experiencing a first-episode psychosis. The focus is on recognising and treating psychotic experiences early to provide better outcomes and an improved chance of recovery. CAMEO is a 3-year, age inclusive (14-65) early intervention in psychosis service. It also offers assessment for and treatment to people who are at risk of developing psychosis. CAMEO has strong links with the department of psychiatry at the University of Cambridge and is involved in world class research projects. CAMEO has influenced changes in policies and practice at national and international level.

The post holder will provide assessment and treatment for all patients with early psychosis in their area. They will work alongside a multidisciplinary early intervention in psychosis team, including psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, support workers and others, to cover a geographical patch within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. In addition to direct clinical care, the post holders are expected to be active in teaching and training – including medical students, staff members and psychiatry trainees.

CPFT is a health & social care organisation dedicated to providing high quality care with compassion to improve the health & wellbeing of the people we care for, as well as supporting & empowering them to lead a fulfilling life.

Our clinical teams deliver many NHS services not only via inpatient and primary care setting but also with the community. These services include Children, Adult & Older Peoples mental health, Forensic & Specialist mental health, Learning Disabilities, Primary Care & Liaison psychiatry, Substance misuse, Social care, Research & Development.

To achieve our goal, we look to recruit high calibre candidates that share our vision & values. As an equal opportunities employer, we encourage applications from all sectors of the community, particularly from under-represented groups including disabled people & members of our BAME & LGBTQ+ communities.

The post holder will be based in the CAMEO South team base with the multidisciplinary team. Occasionally, it will require flexible work in Cameo North, based on clinical needs of the service. CAMEO takes an assertive approach to treatment and patients are seen in clinic, on the inpatient units, GP surgeries and their homes.

The duties of the post will involve:
• Provide day-to-day medical support and clinical advice for the Cameo team.
• Provide assessment and treatment for patients referred with early onset psychosis and at risk mental states.
• Support the CAMEO Physical Health Clinic.
• Coordinate with the consultant and the MDT to deliver high quality care to patients under the care of the service.
• Teaching and training of junior staff, medical students as well as the wider MDT including support with clinical skills evaluation and development
• Participation in research within the service.
