Summary

The service has recently undergone a sensational transformation creating new posts across the CAMHS Rapid Response team in Reading.

As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner you will offer high-quality mental health assessments and short-term intervention to young people experiencing mental health crisis. You will work closely with the wider CAMH services in Berkshire as well as local authority, education colleagues and other services as required.

Excitingly, we are now performing a 24 hour service for our clients which means you will be required to work some evenings and weekends on a rota basis.

You will need to have excellent communication skills as well as a compassionate nature to ensure you are giving your full support to both patients and their families.

As a service we are very committed to the development of our staff and can offer both internal & external training and development opportunities with this role.
• Complete comprehensive psychosocial crisis assessments for young people who have presented in crisis.
• Offer short term intervention to stabilise the crisis (follow up appointments, multi-agency consultation-liaison)
• Identify ongoing care plan needs for young people and their families to ensure they are referred to appropriate services.
• Maintain and develop key relationships with professionals external to the area of service, as well as patients and their families
• To be responsible for the accurate maintenance of clinical record keeping and ensuring all systems, records and data are stored and transferred correctly

The “must haves” for this role:
• A degree in relevant field as well as a core profession eg Social worker, Nurse, OT
• Experience in working with mental health and complex needs
• Demonstrable skills in mental health assessments and formulation
• Full UK driving license with access to a vehicle
