Role Overview:

Reporting to one of our Principal Mechanical Engineers, the SME will bring substantial experience and expertise to the table. Whether it's producing designs, providing expert advice, or managing large-scale projects, the SME will be instrumental in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and resilience of our mechanical systems.

Some Key Responsibilities:

• Provide expert guidance on mechanical installations and safety protocols.
• Produce design specifications and drawings for refurbishment projects
• Supervise contractors and ensure adherence to safe work practices.
• Set and implement standards for effective mechanical systems.
• Offer advice to administrators and building managers on mechanical matters.
• Manage safety critical systems to ensure compliance with legislation.
• Lead and support operational teams to achieve our Estates Services vision.
• Undertake investigative work to enhance system performance.
• Manage maintenance budgets and external contracts effectively.
• Provide technical guidance and support for capital projects.

Selection Criteria: Essential

• Chartered status with relevant engineering institution.
• Minimum of HND in Building Service Engineering or equivalent
• Experience in the design of mechanical building services
• Extensive experience in mechanical engineering operations.
• Strong project management and budgeting skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Commitment to customer service and problem-solving.
• Ability to drive technical innovation and change.

Selection Criteria: Desirable

• Experience with TREND BMS software.
• Background in energy reduction projects.
• Involvement in major capital projects.
