Summary


We currently have an exciting opportunity for a nurse with experience in neurological conditions and experience of or interest in working with patients who have Parkinson’s disease. The post holder will work closely with neurologists and other services, as well as with therapists in the community neurotherapy team and will be supported by other specialist nursing staff.

The bulk of your role will be supporting, educating and advising, people with Parkinson’s, their families and carers, all other HCP’s and support workers involved in caring for people with Parkinson’s in hospital, clinic, and secondary settings. Parkinson’s disease is a chronic, progressive, and variable neurological condition, requiring multi-disciplinary care, and expertise in complex medicines management. Other, rarer progressive neurological conditions will also come under your remit, making for a diverse and interesting role.

Ensuring that patients with Parkinson’s conditions receive the highest standard of care from diagnosis onwards with an emphasis on providing expert advice and support to patients and carers, including psychological support.

Managing and advising healthcare professionals and patients on the treatment

Providing professional and clinical leadership and expertise in the specialty

Providing nursing and medical educational training, support and care within the Trust and externally.

Working closely with the multi-disciplinary team in respect of audit/research in patients with Parkinson nurse led clinics
