Summary


This post will provide a key strategic role in the development of POCT support services within the Trust but also across all healthcare partners. The role will build a POCT support service within the department which will in turn deliver accreditable POCT testing systems within the Trust. The role is expected to expand into the community and other healthcare settings as the local transformation programmes develop. The post will require the post-holder to work at both the PRH and RSH site. It is also likely that some work will require travel to primary and community care sites


• You will lead as part of the senior team in planning and operation of POCT service delivery for Blood Sciences. You will work across ALL pathology departments to ensure that POCT equipment are fit for clinical purposes, patient pathways and do not compromise patient safety or represent a clinical risk.
• You will ensure that all POCT equipment is purchased, operated and controlled in a manner consistent with the Trusts’ POCT Policy. You will work to increase engagement with the local POCT policy at all levels within the Trust levels. To raise the standard of use of POCT within the Trust to an accreditable standard. .
• To be responsible for the writing and acceptance of policies and procedures relating to POCT and associated services and ensuring their implementation within the Trust. You improve governance by setting quality standards and design assurance reports/indicators relating to POCT for service centres. To raise the standard of use of POCT within the Trust to an accreditable standard. .
• You will implement the plan of developing a POCT department. Ie develop job roles, training plans and manage (day-to-day) a team of staff at mixed professional and non-professional grades.
• You will be responsible for developing and implementing training and competency programmes for all SaTH employees as relates to POCT equipment.

You will be based within the Biochemistry Dept working with a group of staff committed to delivering high quality services to its customers. Pathology are forming a network partnership and will be introducing a new LIMS in the next 18 months.
