Summary


As the lead professional for Private caseload patients you will work in partnership with women and consultants to plan and implement individualised midwifery-care packages, whilst using specialist knowledge to continually assess, analyse and determine appropriate course of action for a designated client group. Provide high quality evidence-based midwifery care and advice in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period, in a variety of settings including hospital, and home. Provide continuity of care and additional emotional and psychological support to a defined caseload of women with either high or low risk pregnancies that have opted for Private maternity care. Facilitate/lead group Parent Education or Bespoke 1:1 sessions and perform a health promotion role.
• To provide and perform accurate assessments and procedures, including monitoring of maternal and fetal well-being, care during labour and birth, care during water birth perineal suturing and venepuncture, routine examination of the newborn and supporting infant feeding. Prescribe and administer drugs in accordance with Patient Group Directives
• To work closely with the consultant obstetricians to support with the planning and care delivery of private patients in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period.
