Summary

Social Worker Advanced Out Of Hours - Childrens (Grade 10)

ROLE & PURPOSE OF JOB:

Works within either the Access & Assessment, Locality, Disability or Looked After Children Service, leading the delivery of high quality social work activities within the Hull Children's Social Care Practice Model (within a pod/team and across a range of specialisms and services).

Achieves the best possible outcomes for children and young people in need and their families with a high level of focus on the development and raising of quality in practice, setting standards and the conditions required for successful social work.

Must be able to be flexible in working hours to meet the needs of the children, young people and families. This will involve working evenings or weekends as required on a shift/rota basis.

1 Strategy - Contributes to the overarching strategy in Hull Children's Social Care Services - to ensure that the pod/team actively plans for safety, permancey and stability for children and young regardless of the setting in which they live and to actively support more children to live at home safely.
2 Customer Focus - Works in partnership with colleagues, parents and carers to ensure that child-centred systemic practice is the principal standard and framework for all work undertaken with children, young people and families.

3 Performance Management - Guides the practice and performance of staff within the pod/team and impact on outcomes/progress for cases being worked by the pod/team. Ensures that critical reflection and constructive challenge is featured in all case work undertaken by the pod/team.

4 Leadership - Models systemic practice in direct work with children, young people and families across the social work task including within the context of assessment, planning, delivery, review and case closure/transfer.
5 Works flexibly to provide high quality out of hours social work provision for Children & Family Services.
6 To provide, support and undertake decision making in complex situations, managing high levels of risk, particularly when working out of hours.
7 Undertakes co-work with colleagues on specific pieces of work and in particular, where advanced practitioner level support is required ie. within the context of child protection procedures/processes.
8 Ensures that any concerns/representations from families are addressed at the earliest opportunity through a systemic approach to the issue.

Holds accountability for the decision-making within the immediate help pod/team on case work within the statutory and legal framework (in the context of working out of hours)- liaises with the On call Manager on complex/high risk case decision-making.
10 Ensures that referrals and active cases requiring an immediate response are engaged with, utilising all resources available and prioritising case decisions. Models systemic practice in direct work with children, young people and families across the social work task including within the context of assessment, planning, delivery, review and case closure/transfer.

1. Qualifications:
Degree or equivalent level of experience
Specific qualification requirement (if applicable): Professional qualification in Social Work (Diploma in Social Work, BA/BSc/MA in Social Work, CQSW as required by Health & Care Professions Council)
Evidence of continuing professional development and/or membership of professional body
Graduate Certificate/Foundation Level qualification in Systemic Practice/Family Therapy (within 36 months of taking up role)
Registered with the Health & Care Professionals Council
Achieve Level 2 Practice Educator Standards Certification (within 36 months of taking up role).
Full driving licence.
2. Relevant Experience:
Experience of delivering, monitoring and planning services at an
operational level
Experience of undertaking Change Management, planning and implementing new ways of working
Experience of successfully managing activity and performance targets
Ability to build and maintain effective teams
Ability to manage effective budgets/resources and enforce proper financial controls, showing sound business judgement
Experience and understanding of planning and project management
Experience of assessment and planning, initiating, monitoring, developing and providing outcomes-driven services in the Children’s Social Care arena.
Experience of decision-making on complex/high risk cases within the Children’s Social Care arena.
Experience of leading a systemic approach to practice within the Children’s Social Care arena.
